A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Emily ~ the face and heart behind the camera.

At the core of everything I do is a love for real life as it unfolds ~ not the posed or perfected version, but the honest, in-between moments that often mean the most. Whether it’s a wedding day, a growing family, the quiet anticipation of maternity, those first days with a newborn, the connection between couples, or the story behind a business, I’m drawn to what feels genuine, emotional, and true.

Life moves quickly. The little hands that once fit in yours, the way you look at each other when you think no one is watching, the laughter that fills a room, the quiet pride of building something from the ground up ~ these are the moments worth holding onto.

As a wife and mum to two little wildlings, I understand just how fleeting it all is. That perspective shapes the way I photograph ~ gently, calmly, and with intention. I don’t believe in forcing moments or over-directing life as it happens. Instead, I create space for you to simply be in it, while I document it honestly as it naturally unfolds.

From weddings filled with emotion and celebration, to family sessions that embrace the beautiful chaos, maternity and newborn chapters that feel tender and sacred, couples in love just as they are, and commercial stories that reflect the heart of a brand ~ my approach stays the same: natural, emotive, and deeply human.

Because long after the moment has passed, what remains are the memories ~ and the photographs that hold them still.

PLANNING YOUR TIMELINE

A thoughtfully planned timeline allows your day to flow naturally and ensures we have the time and space to capture everything without feeling rushed.

I’m always happy to help guide your timeline - especially when it comes to allowing enough time for photos, travel, and those in-between moments that often become the most meaningful.

When planning your day, it’s helpful to consider:

•  Ceremony start time and how the rest of the day flows from there

•  Travel time between locations (with a little buffer, just in case)

•  Natural light, particularly for portraits

•  Where family and group photos fit best

A little breathing room in your timeline goes a long way. The more relaxed the schedule, the more present you’ll feel - and the more natural your photos will be.

Tips & Tricks for Planning Your Timeline

•  Build your day around the ceremony time and work backwards

•  Allow buffer time between key moments (things almost always take a little longer)

•  Consider travel time between locations

•  Plan portraits around the best natural light where possible

•  Remember that slower days often feel more meaningful than tightly packed ones

EXAMPLE OF YOUR TIMELINE:

8:30am — Getting Ready Begins

Hair and makeup begins in a calm, light-filled space. This is a slow, relaxed start to the day with time to settle in, enjoy the moment, and ease into the excitement.

10:30am — Details & Getting Ready Photos

Photographing details such as the dress, rings, stationery, florals, and personal items, along with candid moments as final touches are made.

12:00pm — Final Touches

Hair and makeup are finished, dresses are on, and everyone begins to get ready for the ceremony. This is a beautiful window for quiet moments and natural portraits.

1:30pm — Travel to Ceremony Location

Allowing time for travel and a small buffer, so nothing feels rushed.

2:00pm — Ceremony

Guests arrive and the ceremony begins. This is documented unobtrusively, focusing on genuine emotion and connection.

2:30pm — Congratulations & Candid Moments

Hugs, celebrations, and candid interactions immediately after the ceremony.

2:45pm — Family & Wedding Party Photos

Family groupings and wedding party photos, guided efficiently to keep this part relaxed and enjoyable.

3:30pm — Couple Portraits

A quiet moment away together for natural, relaxed portraits. This time often becomes a chance to pause and take everything in.

4:15pm — Reception Begins / Guests Seated

Guests begin to arrive at the reception while you enjoy a moment to yourselves or mingle.

5:00pm — Golden Hour Portraits (Optional)

A short window around sunset for soft, romantic portraits if timing allows.

6:00pm — Reception Events

Entrances, speeches, dinner, and key reception moments.

8:00pm — Dancing & Evening Celebrations

Open dancing, relaxed energy, and joyful moments on the dance floor.

9:00pm — Coverage Concludes

Final moments captured before I quietly wrap up for the evening.

GETTING READY MOMENTS

The getting ready part of the day is often quieter, slower, and filled with anticipation - and it’s one of my favourite parts to photograph.

I’ll capture the atmosphere as it naturally unfolds, along with meaningful details and interactions. To help this part of the day feel calm and photograph beautifully, a few small things can make a big difference:

•  Choose a space with good natural light, ideally near windows

•  Keep numbers in the room minimal if possible

•  Have your important details set aside and ready

This part of the day doesn’t need to be styled or staged. Soft light, gentle moments, and a relaxed environment are all that’s needed.

Tips & Tricks for Getting Ready Photos

Details

•  Have key items set aside: dress, rings, shoes, invitations, jewellery, perfume

•  Place them near a window for soft, natural light

Lighting

•  Choose a space with large windows if possible

•  Turn off overhead lights when natural light is available

Hair & Makeup

•  Being ready slightly earlier than scheduled allows for relaxed portraits

•  Fewer people in the room keeps the space calm and uncluttered

Atmosphere

•  Soft music, open windows, and minimal distractions go a long way

PLANNING YOUR TIMELINE

Tips & Tricks for Your Photo List

•  Keep your list focused on family and key groupings

•  Aim for no more than 8–10 group combinations

•  You don’t need to list every guest or moment - I’ll capture the rest naturally

•  Think about any non-traditional family dynamics ahead of time

Choose a Photo Helper

Nominate one person who:

•  Knows both sides of the family

•  Is confident and comfortable speaking up

•  Can help gather people quickly

This makes family photos faster and more relaxed for everyone.

Example Photo List

(First-name basis keeps this friendly and clear)

•  Katie + Lucas

•  Katie + Lucas with Katie’s parents

•  Katie + Lucas with Lucas’ parents

•  Katie + Lucas with immediate family

•  Katie + Lucas with siblings

•  Katie + bridesmaids

•  Lucas + groomsmen

•  Katie + Lucas with grandparents

•  Katie + Lucas with extended family

FAMILY & WEDDING PARTY PHOTOS

Family and wedding party photos are usually taken shortly after the ceremony, while everyone is already together.

I’ll guide this part of the day clearly and efficiently, so it feels relaxed rather than formal or drawn out. Having a pre-written list and a nominated helper to gather people makes this process quick and stress-free.

These photos don’t need to be stiff or overly posed. My approach is natural and relaxed - allowing genuine interaction while still making sure everyone looks their best.

Tips & Tricks for Smooth Group Photos

•  Keep groups small and intentional

•  Have your photo helper ready and nearby

•  Encourage family members to stay close after the ceremony

•  Trust the process - I’ll guide everyone clearly and calmly

This part of the day is often quicker than expected when it’s planned well.

A FEW HELPFUL DO'S & DONT'S

A Few Helpful Do’s & Don’ts

A few gentle reminders to help your day flow with ease:

Do

•  Allow a little extra time wherever possible

•  Eat, hydrate, and take quiet moments together

•  Trust the process and let the day unfold

•  Stay present — the rest will take care of itself

Don’t

•  Stress about perfection

•  Worry about where to look or how to pose

•  Feel pressure to entertain or perform

•  Let small delays affect the mood of your day

Your wedding day is about how it feels - not how closely it follows a plan.

WORKING WITH YOUR VENDORS

A strong vendor team makes all the difference. I work collaboratively with your other vendors to ensure the day runs smoothly and everyone is aligned.

Ahead of your wedding, I’ll ask for:

•  Your celebrant’s details

•  Venue contact information

•  Planner or coordinator details (if applicable)

On the day, I’ll communicate where needed so you don’t have to. My goal is to allow you to stay present while everything behind the scenes is taken care of.

VENDORS I LOVE WORKING WITH

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some incredibly talented vendors who share a similar approach - calm, thoughtful, and client-focused.
